VUELTA A LA RUTINA Y AL GYM (O A TU DEPORTE)

BACK TO ROUTINE AND THE GYM (OR YOUR SPORT)

A new year begins and with it, for many of us, a return to routine, to our jobs and our daily routines. At the same time, a whole list of resolutions appears in our minds.

One of the goals that appears on most of our lists is: 'Starting in January, I'm going to take better care of myself, I'm going to start exercising again and I'm going to eat healthier.'

But that motivation doesn't usually last long when we see that it's becoming an uphill struggle to achieve everything we've set out to do.

And the truth is that it is difficult, but it requires perseverance, work and good planning.

Don't worry, the same thing won't happen to you again this year because in this blog we are going to give you some tips that will be key to keeping you motivated:

1) Set realistic goals.

Don't try to train 7 days a week. You may be able to do it the first week, but the fatigue you'll experience in the following days will put you off putting on your sports clothes again.

It is better to start small, such as:

  • Train two days a week
  • Try to complete the daily steps
  • contact with nature weekly.

When the initial goal is easier to achieve, achieving it creates that "feeling of reward" in your brain that encourages you to continue.

2) Get organized and track your progress.

Make an appointment with yourself to train. Regarding your training sessions or your trips to do sports outdoors: 'mark them as an important appointment that you cannot miss'

It is important that you prioritize these moments in your busy schedule.

3) Don't overload yourself . Reduce this list of goals to 3 that are aimed at you and your physical and mental health. An endless list can mean that you can't keep up in the first week and that you start to feel guilty when you see that you can't do everything, causing you to abandon your goals sooner than expected.

4) Try to find someone to share it with.

It's very common for someone to tell you that they feel ashamed of going to the gym alone because they don't know where to start. Going with a friend or colleague who is in your situation helps to spread the enthusiasm when one person is lacking.

This January, focus on building a habit with your sport, not an obligation. Choose an exercise plan that you enjoy and combine it with a balanced diet. Make this January the start of your best habits!
